Preserving wings for Vermin count

    Lads whats the best way to preserve wings of mags and greys for vermin count.

    You need somewhere that is dry and airy, I've dried pheasant and duck wings for training the dogs, I just cut them off and put them on top of the press in the utility room they dry out fine. I'm not sure how long it takes coz I just leave them there and forget about them till i need them, just make sure they're spread out and not damp.

    Although on second thought crows and magpies would stink of crow and mapie ..... yuk!

    Use salt to dehydrate them, best to find a sealed box and lay the wings in it and salt them down as you shoot them, they will be preserved by the salting and won't get maggoty/rotten

    Pleaty of salt, cover, then into a sealed bag, with 1/2 onion or 1/2 lemon,
    then into the hot press, mmm mmm yum ee.
