    Hi,
First time poster but wanted to get an opinion. I was recently made redundant and wanted to do a computer course. My options appear to be ECDL or MOS.
What is the general consensus on which would be better for me? I am confident with a computer but no specific training.

    All help appreciated.

people tend to do ecdl and then go on to MOS

have a look at whats covered in the ECDL if you feel you would benifit do that, if not go on to the MOS

Thanks, actually looked at the content and to be honest, while the content would probably be useful for me, it does not make sense to do something that will only get me past a beginner level. While the MOS appears to be more indepth and will probably be harder complete I think in the current climate I need to get to that higher level.
I looked at the advanced Ecdl but you need basic ecdl first and the advanced level still seems to be below the Mos standard.
Has anyone any experience of these qualifictions and what in your opinion is the better qualifciation for a jobseeker?

The ECDL is widely recognised, but I would definitely recommend MOS - it's basically an acknowledgement by the software manufacturer that you're competent in using their software. It's a lot of seperate exams to take though, and will cost more. The ECDL on the other hand will give a more broad (and therefore more "shallow") education.
