Toshiba - Charger

    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to lay my hands on a charger for a Toshiba Laptop. Are there any computer shops around town (that being Dublin) that take-in/sell second hand parts and might have a charger.

I've only recently bought a universal charger and that was working fine except that the connection at the back was quiet flimsy and has now snapped. The universal one has about 8 spare heads none of which fit the toshiba!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    newer Toshiba's use 19 or 20V

But the OLD ones used to use 15V for many years.
If you have a 15V charger then ask nicely as someone may have one lying around at home. ideally you should have one with the same or greater A rating ,but at a push you can use a lower rated one as long as you don't try to charge the battery and run the laptop at the same time. ( have used a 3A adaptor for a 5A laptop, it could either charge the battery OR run the laptop when the battery was charged )

MAPLINS have universal chargers 37euro approx, my tosh pentium 4 1.5ghz cpu 5 years old , uses 15volt ,5amp, circle polarity , + goes inside the circle, minus outside circle.
set voltage ,and current ampage, and POLARITY correctly otherwise you can DAMAGE THE laptop, motherboard.OR post on www.adverts.ie wanted toshiba charger 15volt5amp.THE underside of toshiba laptops have a label with am/voltage/ polarity info, also on powerunit theres a similar label.
Write down this info be4 you go near the shop.TRY taking out battery AND PLUG IN THE OLD CHARGER,the battery maybe faulty.eg http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=220918
this one is 3.5amp.SO i dont know if its produces enough power to run a 15volt/5amp laptop, you coluld sumbit a question at that url .BE sure to set polarity to correct setting, prbly + inside the circle,CHECK the laptop label info to be sure .
