Purchase advice needed

    Hey All

Apologies if im posting in the wrong place, But im looking for advice from anyone who can help on a gun purchase. Basically, I have a fair few aeg's, Mostly clones, The 2 "quality" aeg's i have are a G&G CQBs and an Aeres Tavor (No Slagging please, the one i have is pretty deadly), However every gun i have has a flaw in some way, Some have great range but pathetic FPS etc etc etc

What i want is ONE aeg, But a really good one, An M4 Variation but with good barrel length, The quieter the better, Id like to be able to use it in a marksman role and be a bit stealthy with it at times, I remember Alan in Drogheda airsoft had a fantastic TM M4 , Granted it was plastic but he had a silencer on it and it was very quiet when fired and he got great accuracy and range with it... I know it will be suggested i buy a particular gun and upgrade the hell out of it, But what i will need is to buy this from a retailer pre-upgraded as i have NO EXPERIENCE in mechboxes!, I plan to go to berget next year and i really want a good all rounder of a gun, Thats reliable to boot.

I am willing to sell ALL my AEG's to fund this project.....

    Thanks in advance!

Im sorry there is no i win button in airsoft, no bfg, once you have accepted this you can go on to be happy :)
I remember Alan in Drogheda airsoft had a fantastic TM M4 , Granted it was plastic but he had a silencer on it and it was very quiet when fired and he got great accuracy and range with it.

It was quiet due to good shimming quality motor and correct height adjustment, this can be archived with most aegs, you just need to be aware that nearly aall the noise from an aeg comes from the gearbox and there not much you can do about that im afraid.

Going by what your saying i would go for a bulpup as you can fit the longest barrel in the shortest over all length to help with accuracy, it has a v3 gearbox which tbh i consider the easiest to work on and the best to twick, the aug has a large body that you can add material to absorb sound and with setting the gearbox up correctly its the aeg with the lowest sound output I've come across so far.

From what your saying thought i get the impression your not going to be 100% happy with anything off the self, i could suggest a lot of things, my best advice would be to find something you like first and foremost as external upgrades can be replicated from aeg to aeg,

    Righto...

Quietest aeg on the market Imo, (out of the box) would be a aug, or p90, with foam as puding meister said... OR, a silencer... both are pretty nice with silencers for effectiveness, and with the right 'tune up' quite good...

Heres a tip for airsoft silencers...

Buy one, open it, and bin the foam... Now go to a pet shop, and buy some of the fish filter foam, in varying densities (they sell it as such) and replace the foam circles with those, densest at the ends, with the more pourous material at the middle of the silencer... I use this in mine, and frankly, its a huge improvement on reducing muzzle raport. With a bullpup, not only does your arm and body help to silence the gearbox noise, its further back, and less... 'exposed' like the m4 due to being sealed into the body...

Silencers in airsoft do not silence really... but, if you do as I suggested above, what will happen is your muzzle report will be dulled, and the sharp 'crack' of an aeg firing (the air leaving) will be dispersed... making it very very hard for people to locate the source of the shot, EVEN if they hear it. (the important part imo) Most flashhiders act like rudimentry 'noveske's... and amplify noise, especailly the m4 bird cage, and AK flash hiders are NOTORIOUS (aksu and ak74 mainly) for making the gun sound loud and metalic when firing... its all a game of sound waves... become a soundwave surfer and you'll suceed! (so cheesy... I appologise)

An AUG would be a good idea as Puding said, you can shorten the barrel to the CQB length and its still longer than an M4 barrel. theres loads of space around the gearbox for a sound damper in there like Dynamat etc.
Out of the box though you'll never get something that ticks all the boxes. you could go for a JG AUG and add a few upgrades to get what you need. My AUG sounds like its exactly what your looking to do. :)

I agree with you guys when you say im never gonna find something that ticks all the boxes.... and i am a whore for AR15 / M4's, So Basically, to rephrase my question, Can you guys reccomend a really top notch M4 thats gonna be reliable enough for me to take abroad, and upgraded sufficiently to quieten it down and improve performance?, At the end of the day the noise is not a huge stopping point for me, The most important thing to me now is a good performer that i can rely on!

a G&p m4... frankly... one of the best out there for performance, reliability, and out of the box win. also did I mention they are LOVELY build quality?

If its got to be stanag then the G&G F200 (when it comes out) would be ideal. Known for great quality plus its a bullpup design with long barrel and takes your regular M4 mags. :)

Or you could sell your **** you dont want, buy some quality internal parts, and trick your Tavor to amazing standards.

Being that it has the quick spring change, you have something ideal for Berget, and all round general use.

After fidling with yours yesterday it seems ok. The groupings from its firing is a bit poor, and the mars sight, well that is just there for looks.

I believe Puding has a Tavor he tricked out, and Rookie from MAC has a Tavor that seems pretty impressive.

I think you might want to shift some older kit to fund internal parts for your Tavor, its a nice looking rifle and its unique, and a high performing one would be a great feat to have.

My VFC 416 has never put me a foot wrong, high performance, great range and accuracy, fully customisable.

If I was to buy a gun tomorrow, any gun going, I'd probably buy a G&G CQB-SD, or a G&G Scar.

I feel what your saying DOC, But i cant see myself being happy with the tavor as my primary, Ill always keep it and take it out ever now and again, But im willing to get rid of the flotsam now and buy an airsoft gun "pre tricked" as it were, Slap on Gucci, and roll the **** out! :)

On the Berget thing and the fast spring change... I wonder what i could get the tavor up to with just a spring change without risking faffing up the other internals... anyone know what its capable of or what its built to shoot at before it hits the irish market? - Also, Im not sure if it was drilled or sprung....

I'm sure if you get a high torque motor and gear set for the Tavor, you'll be covered for all eventualities with spring changes.

For TM money you may as well get a G&G.
