I am applying for traineeships at the moment as I am in my final year. A lot of applications ask when I intend to sit my fe1s...what months are the fe1s on and what would be the best month to write down seen as I don't have a clue what I'll be doing with regards to masters etc.??

    Any help would be great!

They're on at the moment, they're scheduled twice a year, so next sitting should be March or April. Typically, most final year students decide to sit them the autumn after they finish college.
I know where you're coming from with regard to the applications. In applying last year, I said I would be doing them now, but I decided to do a masters instead because I got nowhere with the application process! The only problem I can see with it is if you have to re-apply the following year, and you're not doing what you said you would be doing, this may expose the lack of a plan!
If, however, you were lucky enough to secure a traineeship this year, and you had told them you would do the fe1s this time next year but changed your mind and decided to do a masters, I couldn't see that being a major problem to them.

Thanks bear17, never thought about the lack of a plan!ha BTW, if I was to do the fe1s next october, when would I be starting with a firm? I know that you can do a couple of months before ppc1 so when would that be?

    Thanks

Big 5 applications? You won't be starting for at least 18 months after any potential job offer given the current climate and the jobs won't be offered until the new year so if you do get offered a job in January 2010 don't expect to commence until the Autumn of 2011 at the earliest, possibly Spring 2012.

Depressing, I know, but I am someone who is sitting on such an offer and that is the reality.

To add to the above, if you get an offer in Jan '10 and finish college in Jun '10, then the earliest you can possibly commence work will be Autumn '10 as johnfás said due to only having the FE-1s done by then (that is, of course, unless you do all 8 in one go!)
