I can highly recommend "Family Tree" creche near the Roxboro Roundabout. My daughter spent 2 years there and she was always happy and content there and I never once had a problem with any of the staff there. There is a wonderful atmosphere there and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Waiting lists to get a place can be rather long. If you need any further info you can send me a pm and I would be happy to help.

I can recommend Poppins , its off mulgrave Street. Lots of friendly staff . They potty trained my daughter and she learned lots with them, never any problems,

Hi OP, without naming any names, can you let me know what kind of issues you have had with your current creche? I am currently studying chidcare at night time and am very interested to hear about them (just being nosey, but it may be helpful to me)

    Hi needcar,
Its just a general lack in confidence with some staff..most of them are lovely but some are less so.
We are going to stick with current creche for time being(give it another chanc)
    Cheers,
    Marty.

My 2 year old daughter goes to Nursery Times on Mallow Street. Staff are freindly and she seems to love it.

If you have had and continue to have concerns about some Staff for whatever reason then why are you going to give them a second chance? Its none of my business, but maybe ye should listen to your natural instincts?

Don't risk having serious regrets due to inaction....

    - I parked my car outside of our old Creche a while back and heard some maladjusted Limerick Yoke who was shouting at the top of her lungs at some poor small child.

I'd class this incident as as Army like, inappropriate, unnecessary and sheer lazy bullying..... The odd thing was that the Creche owner/Manageress was actually in the room at the time.

Fact is we moved her after another Staff member was continuously roaring and shouting at the kids in the room our Chiuld was in too.

They are doing much better in her new Creche and we are relieved and delighted to be long gone.

Creches are everywhere now - renegotiate for a competitive price and don't leave your Child for more than 1 second with any individual you are not happy with.

I'd happily name and shame but I'm not sure re. the legal standing on this?

God - I hate threads like this. I've my 2 in a creche and am very happy with it but my stomach sinks when I read the stories some people have about creches and I wonder if someone is talking about the one I use? Is there something I don't know.... My creche is on the Northside so if naming could be done even by PM I would be very grateful.

My sister in law runs Clever Cats Playschool on Ballysimon Road, her own daughter and two of my nephews went there, one of my nephews had terrible problems with his speech but after going there he's perfect :D

My son is very playful and advanced for his age (16months) he is certainly ready for creche and my husband and I have been looking around. Would anybody recommend one they are using now? At present it is a toss up between Poppins in the city centre and Little Treasures, Dooradoyle.

We were impressed by both but are scared to hand him over to anybody. Reccommendations or pm absolute no no's would be very much appreciated as this is my first child and I am terrified x

Hi, Dont be worried about letting him out of your care. He may even cry sometimes when you drop him off but five minutes later will be playing happily.
My daughter went to Poppins. I felt it stood to her later on as now she is 6 an has been getting on very well with her reading and schoolwork. They were constantly doing art and learning. The girls there took a real interest in her development and gave me regular feedback on how she was.
The even give you a little form every day telling you what your child did and ate.
I know if she had been home with me I would have been more inclined to do housework than crack out the crafts and books with her.
She loved it there and still remembers it even now.

Don't know much about Poppins, but my son was in Little Treasures in Dooradoyle for four years, He is now 6 and attending school. He started in the baby room and progressed through to the montessori. We never had any problems with them and always found them easy to deal with. Even in emergencies (our son has a special need) they were spot on.

Left a certain Creche mentioned here once they employed someone who might be great with machinery, plants or break-dancing but was really inappropriately 'off' with Children.

    - Def. the advice holds - protect your Child, have standards and walk if you are not happy.

    Hi,
I'm thinking about sending my son the Little Treasures and see that you commented on it. Was there anything that you were unhappy about? I'm moving my child from a babyminder to a creche and am a little bit apprehensive about it, I'm wondering if theres a lack of 'family' like atmosphere. Would appreciative any advice you could give me. Thanks

I'd say stick with the babyminder if its possible.

Stick with the baby minded if at all possible would be my advice.

Creches are opened by crafty 'Entrepreneurs', run by careerist Managers, budgeted by tight Accountants, staffed by chain-smoking, underpaid, scowling 19 year olds who are in between jobs and cranky to even be there.

    - If you have a Baby Minder who is a good human being then that would in most cases beat a creche - don't concern yourself with mixing or socialisation, one to one with a mature, caring adult wins out over a Baby processing factory where they grudgingly 'manage' your Child for X Euro a day.....
