    Folks,

Seen a tutorial a few weeks ago - for the life of me I cant remember where I seen it (youtube I think) - but can someone help me; either on how its done or the name of the process so I can try find a tutorial on it!

Basically, say if you were taking a picture of a tree, and say there are people walking by, if you take 3/4 pictures of the exact same landscape, you can import the 3/4 images into photoshop and it works out, that the people are in different places and that you dont want them in the shot and removes them!!

All I remember that it was a very quick process and great if you are trying to shoot in a touristy place where you'd never get the opportunity to shot the subject without any distractions!

    Help please! Cheers!!! ;)

Heres an example, to try make it a lil clearer!

Top left, top right and bottom left are the shots taken of the intended subject - however in the 3 shots mentioned there is a distraction, but in each shot the distraction is in a different place and photoshop can work out that the actual intention is just to have the red rectangle and removes the person!

    Make sense?

Assuming you are using a tripod and the images all overlap perfectly just use layer masks.

I think I read similar tutorial. It was about the Photoshop function "Merge to Panorama" or very similar name. I am using such feature of CS4, but directly commanded from Lightroom, therefore I don't know where to look for it in PS.
I hope my bad memory will help you at least with searching for the right tutorial.

I have no idea how to do that (aside from what bp_me) said, but I would like to find out. That sounds both plausible and awesome.

Try a search for scene cleaner.

I do remember hearing of that and think it is new to cs4, if you dont have it layer mask is the way.

    Yeah, using a tripod!!
But it wasnt done by masks because I remember think, jezz thats amazing - cos if you were taking pics with lots of people around, you'd be forever masking out people!
I think it needs at least 3 shots (two of which would need to have the subject unblocked) and it does a calculation and removes the unwanted item as it isnt in 2 of the shots!

It was actually something very similar to this!
I googled "scene cleaner" and found this

    Scene Cleaner

But the above is PSE7 - I would have seen a tutorial for CS3 and I think that the funtion was a little more automated than this (that is, you didnt have to paint out the person - it worked it out for you!!)

But you are on the right track - havent access to CS3 right now, so cant check the options in the CS3 where he says to go File > New > Photomerge Scene Cleaner

Technologically it should be no problem, photoshop can already automatically align shots for HDR, no reason they couldn't design it to align three images and purge the inconsistent parts.

This is like one of those things you see on an infomercial; "I've never needed it in the past, but now that I've seen it I have to have it".
