Help Needed with New Online Casino

I really want to start an online casino and from just a few hours research, it seems as
though its not as crazy an idea as I thought it might be [cost wise].

You need of course, a website
A gambling licence [Isle of Man license covers all of UK] £35,000 paid annually
Casino software [many places selling this, its pricy but only a one-time expense]

    I have a vision of the site in mind that has live games; essentially the idea will be that;

    You play against real humans.

Everyone plays with and for real money.
    Winners are always human.
All bets are live and in real time.

There will also be the usual 24/7 virtual games too. [maybe all games will be virtual
to start and then add some live games when we start to make money]

I am excited with this idea at the moment and I think it could do really well if I got the right help.

Does anyone out there think they could help me in any way or perhaps come on board with the idea?

Starting it will be the biggest gamble of all, but the rewards could be astronomical if we put the right team together.

    - Let me know your thought on the idea!
    Michael

I'm not trying to be smart here, but from your few hours research did you find out how many other online casino sites there are? what do you offer that they dont? Whats your USP?

    (I never was an optimist)

I think you need huge funding for something like this. Also there are so many of these sites out that are

    A: Branded
B: Have big money to back them.

How can you compete against established competition like paddy power etc?

Do you have any experience of this industry.

There is a guy from the poker forum that ran(maybe still does) a poker site, i think he visits this forum sometimes, Culchie is his username maybe send him a pm for advice.

it was an affiliate site, they stopped paying commission overnight (fraudsters) lucky for me, I received more than I put in.

The casino business is for the big brands only

It may seem a little naive of me, but I believe it's possible to start a website like this with relatively small investment [particularly if a team was established as I said previously]. Yes, there are many on-line casinos but there is still room for more as this industry continues to grow year by year.

A USP, as you nicely pointed out, is in the works. I have a few ideas that could set it apart from the rest [which would be unwise to give on an open form such as this]

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions regarding this, I'd love to read them. I really don't think you need to be one of the big brands to start an online casino [all of the big ones were small once!]

I know it's not what you're looking for (you want support, not us pissing on your parade) but I have to agree. If starting an online casino was so easy, I think you'd hear more success stories. Perhaps it's not costly to open, but to be truly successful, and make lots of money, I believe you're going to need some deep pockets.

Sorry, but I think your USP better be something truly special for this to work out for you.

Sorry OP, but there is no chance you can run a successful online casino operation without big bucks behind you. And even then its not going to be easy.

Also your USP is already in use. There is a club in town who's blackjack and roulette wheels are hooked up electronically to an online site so that online players can see the real life dealers etc so they aren't playing against a computer....

Firstly, fair play to you for trying to get something set up yourself.

However, unfortunately I would have to agree with the other posters here and say that this is probably not a good idea. It will be very difficult to take on the existing players without huge money behind you.

The problem that I see is not in setting up a site. I am sure with a modest investmet, you could develop a very good site and have the whole thing looking brilliant and up and running.

But your big problem will be getting people in the (virtual) door.

How are you going to market the site ?

How are you going to have people hear about it. ?

The likes of Paddy Powers spends Millions every year on Marketing. You will have to at least match it if not even better it to try and take them on.

    Hi OP,

    Just for some perspective.

To cover only your license on a 36 numbers and 1 zero roulette table you need to take GBP 1,295,000 in bets each year. I'm assuming you don't have any other games.

To see how much money you actually need, work out your costs and multiply by 37.

    This is the key.

I've been making and running websites for years (about 15 years) so I have some idea what I'm talking about.

Making a website, although it is very time consuming, is relatively straightforward. Getting your website online and keeping it online is relatively straightforward. Getting people to use your site? Difficult.

You would really need an angle to get people using it. For example (and I just made this up off the top of my head) make a pornsite which only contains Irish women (there would be a large market for this) and combine this with your gambling site. So you'd be using other content to get people to see your casino.

If you don't have an angle, it'll be very difficult to get people using the site, ESPECIALLY if the games require other people to be online and ready to play at the same time.
