My winter training bike is ready.
I need some advice on storing my race bike for the winter. Does anyone do anything special to there bike before storing it for a prolonged period?
    Any tips appreciated.

I'd say a good clean, make sure it's dry, hang it up, let air out of tires.
Even better if you can service it before hanging up, with fresh grease/ oils where necessary.
If possible store in a heated area. If it's your 'good' bike, then it won't be going into a nasty damp shed!

No, just make sure the chain is oiled so it won't rust. As long as that is the case you can put it away for six months and it will be as you left it when you take it out again.

Lock it to something substantial, either immovable or awkward. Mine are locked to a ladder. Don't think that just because it's in a locked garage that it's safe.

    DFD.

I kept an unused road bike in sheds and garages of various degrees of dampness for over 10 years with no special preparation, and it rolled out just like it rolled in, apart from the flat tyres.

The only thing I've noticed happening to bikes in a shed is that steel bits like bolts can rust slightly.
