Guys I am not sure if this is the right section for this but anyway here we go...

I'm in 6th year atm and am looking to a career in Law. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me more about the "Law and Society" and "Economics, politics and Law" courses. I know that Law and Society is accredited with Kings Inns but the other day a Barrister friend told me that there are different degrees of exemption granted for different courses. Basically now im confused.

Also with regard to the EPL course I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it covers enough law modules to have a realistic chance of passing the law society's exam.
Any other things you guys think I should know about these courses will be very much appreciated :)

Thanks in advance for any help :)

If you want to be a

    Barrister
The Kings Inn basically has two routes to entry. If you have an approved Degree you go straight into the full time Barrister course. If not you have to do a two year part time diploma first. This is the only distinction they make. So since Law and Society is an approved course, you will go straight into the Full Time course, provided you pass the entrance exams.

    Solicitor
Again Law and Society covers the subjects on the FE1s (Exams for the Law Society). So does Economics Politics and Law, but not to the same depth as L&S. Whether or not EPL would equip you to pass the FE1s would be up to how hard you study in final year really, most people would do a preparatory course before attempting the FE1s, but a lot of people with pure Law Degrees would do the same.

Basically, if you are 100% sure you want to do Law, go into Law and Society if you have any doubts at all, consider EPL. It's a broad course that leaves you with a lot of options when you're going into third year as to what you want to specialise in.
