    Hi

my goal is to have equipment hooked up to the telly that stores all my music and movies. around 1 tb

i need one that can stream to a wireless laptop upstairs and a PC thats wired to the Router

many file formats would be nice including MKV files

now ive no experience using a media player hands on and i need advice from people who have

dont mind spending whatever it takes. 250 should be enough, maybe im wrong

another option would be a network Hard drive and rely on the PC for decoding and streaming.

heres a good list of media players from komplett

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.aspx?bn=10860

    thanks in advance folks

would be nice if this turned into a good informative thread with lots of input as i can see lots of people asking about them but no one really giving definitive reviews/ recomendations

I would recommend the Xtreamer as I've heard a lot of good things and some of the users on here have them. I've ordered one but it's been delayed so I can't give a full opinion yet!

You've to buy a HDD separate but you can connect 2 externals as well. Also, it comes with a free WiFi aerial to stream to laptops etc. It supports pretty much any file going as well which is great

    Anyways, have a look here:

There aren't any more the delivery problems as they have that UK site now

looks like a nice player. does it take an internal drive?

when you get your hands on one id like to hear how it peforms

    edit :

just found a nice video of the product. seems to be incredibly solid and fast

looks like this is the one for me

    Check this thread out http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055249986

The Xtreamer are new to the market and have a lot of technical problems as do the AC Ryan. The PCH C200 is out now but is outside your budget. The WD version 2 should be out around now and may be a good choice.

seems a bit pricey. i mean id pay about 250 but anymore defeats the purpose when i have a good pc that fully capable of doing it.

what about the 110? that seems quite good and does everything i want on paper. but is it good hands on?

on komplett it doesnt mention MKV files but on there site it says there playable

A110 (or equivalent) is perfect for what you want, and yes it dos play MKV up to 1080p.
