My friend's opel Corsa radio/CD just died the other day. All that happens is the word "PANEL" appears on the display when you try to turn it on. There's no request for a code or anything like that.

Pressing or holding buttons has no effect.

Anyone any idea what's going on?

    Tx

tell him to disconnect the battery for an hour that might work

Take the button panel out (press the button with the red flashing light when the ignition is off), check the contacts for grime, clean if necessary and re-insert the panel.

Mine does this randomly from time to time. I just hit the eject button for the CD, take the security panel on and off and keep pressing random buttons.

It's not an ideal solution but it works for me lol
