Apple set the prices for all the retailers so your only chance to get it any cheaper is if a shop is having a special offer on them.

I got my daughter one from the refurbished store, its two years old and never a problem. It was about 20% cheaper at the time but the reduction varies.
Also got my macbook there, some great bargains, but you have to check regularly and might have to wait for what you want.

just to be a bit pedantic, apple don't set a price for the resellers, but they do set their cost price and the Apple store price is just a few euro above that cost price.

The resellers can see them for whatever they like, but obviously don't go above the apple store price and anything cheaper wouldn't be worth selling them.

Sounds very much like apple setting the price to me

could be seen like that, but in essense the resellers can sell them for what they like but anything above the apple store price would be deemed as 'RIP OFF' by irish consumers and anything below the apple store price wouldn't be financially viable.
