Not sure if same applies but i had a david brown that used to do the same. I used to have to remove the stud's holding the slave carryin the stick from the floor and remove stick and push the selectors manually. Its easier than it sound's, i'm just not describing it that well. But like i said, different tractor, your problem could be worse. Other than that play with the hi low box and shock the tractor by lifting the clutch quickly etc

There's a simple fix for this. A lot of the older MF's have this problem. At the bottom of the gear lever there should be a rubber cover - pull this cover up to reveal where the gearstick meets the gearbox plate. There should be a pin going through the gear stick and plate. Use a punch, push out this pin. pull up the gear stick gently, its on a spring. Move the gear stick back into the position of the gear that its stuck in and it should free itself. ie. Your tractor is stuck in reverse, but the gear lever has slipped out of the reverse channel in the gearbox. It needs to be lifted up again and put back into the reverse channel which will then allow you to take the tractor out of reverse into neutral.

As I said, it happens regularly with MFs so its nothing major to be worried about.

    Hope this helps.

Is it the same kinda box as the 188's ? I use a small bar to try and force the leaver back into position which can be quite tricky. Never thought of this way before wounder would it work on a 188?

There's a danger of breaking cogs on the gear wheel if you go at it with a bar. This method will work on any of the 0, 1 or 2 series Massey Fergusons

Thanks for that advice! yea using the bar is not the most ideal idea always afraid of doing damage! Will give this a go the next time she sticks!

Does anyone know how to go about fitting spool valves on a Massey Ferguson 265. Is the valve chest expensive to buy? How would you connect the pipes in to the hydraulic section under the seat. What position would the lift controls be in while the spool valves are in use. And also would this then allow the tractor to wrap bales or would there also be the need for a computer plug-in.

the computer plug in is no problem we wired a euro plug into our john deere 2140 no problems what so ever....
