    Finishs with an unfortunate truth
    "Ghost bikes, bibs, laws and cycle-only boxes all play a part, but staying away from lorries when on a bike is probably the smartest thing that any cyclist can do."

    I said this before, but I think Ghost Bikes are creepy and put people off cycling. If I had to invent something that would subconsciously link cycling with death in the public mind, I couldn't come up with anything better than the Ghost Bike.

    It's like the cycling-safety campgaigns of the recent past. They were well meant and they did highlight the dangers cyclists were facing, but the dangers came to overshadow the far more numerous benefits in the public mind, until now people think that cycling is orders of magnitude more dangerous than walking or driving, which it isn't.
