Okay, so this is more about satisfying my curiosity than anything else, but I was wondering just how many people here have no gaming contact. Okay, that and I was hoping to draw out the lurkers. Let us know you’re out there!

    What's a gaming contact?

I rarely check this forum. Games general gets more posts for all types of games, rpgs included I guess.

    "What's a gaming contact?"

By contact, I mean people, people in your circle who are into gaming, ideally meeting every so often for a session, but certainly people who don't tune out and drift into narcolepsy every time you mention an rpg.

You see, I don't currently know any gamers, not locally anyway. And stopping in to visit the ones I do know involves taking off my shoes for a security check and five time zones. Not the most practical solution to finding a weekly game.

That's why I came here in the first place, to try to find gamers in my area. I started this thread to see if there were any other gaming hermits out there.

Yeah, in the same boat then. None of my friends even like computer rpg's, never mind tabletop.

For sure its not a high volume forum.
If you're looking for people to play with it doesn't hurt to post here, or for example check the list of previous posters and contact any which may be in your catchment area.

Though attending events like gaelcon etc are probally a good start.

    Thanks for the advice, Rev.

As it happens, I volunteered to GM at Gaelcon with the hopes of running into a few people from nearby-ish. To be honest, it'll be great just to get back into it, so anything more is a bonus.

I'll be running a homebrew on Saturday, and I'm not sure what else yet.

    See you there.

Another alternative is playing via vent or teamspeak. When I used to play MUDs a few people I got to know through that used to play ... Seven Seas I think it was, over vent. Seemed to work out for them alright.

If you're interesting in wargaming there's a group that meets in Newtown Forbes (the other side of longford) every second sunday - not a bad little group either.

(that's assuming the Mullingar in your location isnt a lie)

Thanks for the heads-up. Heard about the club recently from a wargamer here in Mullingar and was thinking about stopping by sometime soon. Wargaming isn't really my thing (guess I'm more story than strategy), but there is a lot of cross interest between rpg and wargaming. We're all dice-chuckers after all!

And yes, boys and girls, I really am in Mullingar. I mean, who would make up something like that!?

That's fair, what a terrible lie it would be!

Might be worth stopping into the wargamers anyway, I know one rpger who plays there, bound to be others, maybe ye can get a group together.
