Flounder, mullet and bass, some sea trout.
All require specialised techniques, some are there only parts of the year, so it's not a simple place to fish, but yes there are fish there if you know the habits of those species.

Also has some slob trout but they get a lot of pressure so they're not easy.

yank_in_eire, just wanted to know has the fishing improved in the last 2years?
And why are slob trout so pressured? :)

I always get confused about the estuary here, is the fishing best before the railway viaduct i.e. at the carpark beside beach or after the railway viaduct near the malahide yacht club? Can all be caught on either side? I know mullet are plentiful after the viaduct but thats about it

Mostly because they hang out around a bridge that everyone and their brother fishes from, they're easily seen and they get a lot of different stuff thrown at them - you might say they have seen it all.:P

You'll need a heavy weight, there's a strong current there! And pretty bad weed too.

Was there the other night and saw some bass jumping. Thought they were Mullet at first but one of them was huge, and definitely a bass.

remember at this time of year it's closed season for bass though.

Do you guys think its worth giving it a few casts? never get results without the effort ayy? :)
Fly or spin? never ever before have I seen the estuary being fished by fly. I was walking there one day and found a dead bass within the 6-8lbs weight, I thought this was amazing when ive only seen small fish rising and jumping.

cheers for the replies lads :)
