I recently applied for the new star wars mmo and the website had to scan my laptop but for some reason the scan said i only had 2.7gb of ram when i actually have 4?

Any suggestions on whats going on???

Just a guess, but I'd say it's taking into account that Vista/Xp only use a max 3.2gb of ram available minus the ram being used currently in your comp. (500mb?) = 2.7gb of ram

So just to be clear, it takes away the ram that vista uses away from the 4gb?

Thanks for swift reply btw :)

yeah you still have the 4gig its just the OS is constantly using a certain amount of it so that wont show up on the scan.

A 32bit computer/OS is never going to recognise 4GB of RAM. Somebody with a beard may explain the details but it's a technical limitation of 32 bit systems. I believe ~3.2 would be the max you would see if you had top notch graphics and sound cards that weren't hijacking system memory.
