Thought just occured to me watching anonymous, sketch was a celeb dressed up as guard trying to fool fellew celebs. noticed part of their set uo did not includ any numbers or letters on their shoulders/labels

so question is, and as a mater of interest, i asume this is part of a guards uniform and ID, and if this ID is not visable on their shoulders and if one approaches you for what ever reason, are you entitled to ask for ID from them.

AFAIK they are (1 of the members on here will give you a better answer then mine) but don't forget they could be on their way home and have their shoulder numbers off but if they see something serious and need to go and sort it out they wouldn't have time to stick on the numbers before going over.

Never be afraid to ask a Garda for I.D. if you are in any doubt. While it is policy for members to wear there numbers, it doesnt always happen. Sometimes members just forget to transfer them from one article of uniform to another!

We have I.D.'s for a reason, if in doubt, check it out!
