Is my broadband terrible?

Hi guys, I did a speedtest and this was my result : Could someone explain this to me, is my broadband really slow? Thanks!

What package, the speed you pay for. 3Mb 12Mb, What you have there is 1Mb.

Is it in this list?

See the "BT Ireland 'BT Broadband 1 & Total Talk' Broadband Product".

That's 1Mb down and 128 up which is what you are getting.
Its contended at 48:1 so if this is your package then you're getting what you are paying for.

What do you want us to tell you?
The speed you posted showed that you were getting exactly what BT were offering you. If you've already switched to Vodafone why even bother asking here?

Hi Flecktarn,

Are you connecting via the wireless or with the ethernet cable (the cable that connects the modem/router to your computer. I have always found that I get a faster connection when I use the cable. Just a taught.

eh??,Wireless interference should not matter save in an apartment block unless Vodafone have cut costs and started shipping Belkin modems

Microwaves, cordless phones, other wire less routers, baby monitors, sky digital (connected to the phone line) Wire less alarm systems and more can inter fear with a wireless signal from your modem in a perfect world there would be no interference like. As far as im aware VF dont do belkin routers. :cool:

Other wireless routers was what I was on about and that interference is common in apartments . An interference free wireless router works at 3mbits no worries.

The simple solution is change channel in the wireless interface of the modem , change from typical default 6 to 7 or 11 and restart .

Well think of it , around 400,000 Netopia Modems are 'out there ' on channel 6 or 7 .
