My dell xps m1330 has just had the common gpu failure of multi coloured vertical lines. Needless to say it is 9 months out of its 1 year warranty. Can anyone recommend a course of action please?
If I have to buy a new one can anyone recommend a non dell, lightweight note/net book with 802.11n wi fi and 3g built in for portable email and web access please? A back lit screen and keyboard and nice materials too.

I'm going to try on monday thanks. No wonder the company ended up in trouble given their quality issues seeing as i've now joined a not very exclusive group of xps m1330 owners

Thanks. Was looking at the nc10 and 20 and also the n310. Might wait for the new nokia and windows 7 though. As ever the price is edging up.

Just to complete the thread. Dell are replacing the motherboard tomorrow for free at home despite the laptop being 10 months out of warranty as the gpu failure is a known issue. Fair play to them.

Decent bloke from Dell came round earlier than booked and replaced the MB. All works fine now. Result. He did recommend removing the battery if running off the mains and it is fully charged, otherwise overheating and poor battery life will result.

Glad you got sorted but for anyone else reading this you should check out the Asus 1005HA, a nice little netbook.
