Was thinking about getting one and was just wondering if they solved all the problems with the m1330 or has this got the same issues as the old model?

The problem with the old M1330 was that Nvidia graphics chips of that era were made using materials that didn't hold up well to high temps and heat cycles.

They are supposed to have fixed it by the 9xxx series of graphics cards, so you're probably okay. The Studio XPS 13 is still known to run very hot though. The base of the chassis is metal and almost works as a giant heatsink, so it is definitely not a laptop to use on your lap. I don't think it is considered a 'problem' though in the sense that internal component temps are normal, its just that the laptop feels very warm from the outside.

My xps m1330 gpu gave up last night. As with other dell equipment i have owned, they generally give up at around 2 years old. Specs look good but...

Thanks for the info guys, I really don't want to get a laptop if it's going to cause me major hassle over the years but from the sounds of it these xps's are ok.

My other options were to get a inspiron 1535 or studio 1555 from the outlet store as I would'nt really be using it for games but again it's nice to have the power there if you need it.

Which one would you guy's go for, the xps or one of the other ones?
