Trouble Finding a Morning After Pill?

Hey all, I've got abit of a problem and I was hoping someone could give a hand.

Last night, me and my girlfriend were messing around, and she gave me 20-30 seconds of head, along with a handjob for another 30 seconds or so. Now, this was extremely foolish but I ended up pushing the head of my penis into her vagina, for less than a second. I thought that there was no pre-cum but my girlfriend seems to believe that she tasted something.

Now, I've spoken to afew people, and they seem to think that everything is going to be fine, and the likelyhood of getting pregnant in this situation is almos impossible. However, my girlfriend is freaking out, believing that she is going to find herself pregnant. As a precaution we want to get the morning after pill tomorrow, but out local Doctor's office is closed on saturdays.

We live in Meath, and I would just like to know if anyone could tell us if there is anywhere in Meath where we could get the pill on a saturday.

    Thank you.

I'm not going to say there is no risk of pregnancy - there always is - but as you've described it, it would seem to be very slight. I understand your girlfriend is anxious, but ask her to calmly think about where in her cycle she is and whether the likelihood of pregnancy is significant. Women are only fertile for a reasonably small window each month.

The reason I say this is because taking the Morning After Pill should not be taken any ol' time as a precaution... PREcaution comes beforehand. Either use condoms yourself or your girlfriend should use contraception. The Morning After Pill is not good for your girlfriend's body and if you get into the habit now of taking it for every small misstep, then you're risking longer term damage to her and her fertility. Read up on it before your girlfriend swamps her body with strong hormones unnecessarily.

    Good luck.

Its unlikely but not impossible so dont take the risk

I honestly dont know where you will get the pill in meath but you have 72 hours after sex to take it which gives you time to get sorted

You may have to come to dublin though. I know the family planning clinic on cathal brugha st is open by appointment only on a saturday otherwise they have a walk in service on a sunday but its very limited so best to ring and see.

I made a similar mistake 13 years ago and now have a 12 year old so unless you are ready to be a parent get the bloody pill

Yes women are only fertile for a few days but its not an exact science so unless you are tracking your dates month by month its going to be hard to know for sure

I gather this was a one off, I dont imagine they are planning on using the MAP as a contraceptive and there is no evidence that using it once or twice has any impact on a woman's health or fertility.

There should be an out of hours service. The one here is Southdoc, I am not sure what it is called where you are but call them. They will be able to provide it.

This link has a listing of all the GP who prescribe emergency contraception in Meath.
LINK You will find them listed on pages 17 and 18 with addresses and phone numbers, there are over 30 of them there so one of them should be near enough to you.

Thanks all, today we took the bus to Dublin and got the pill at the Well Woman's Centre. They were extremely nice and the doctor seemed to confidently say that the pill would take full effect given the circumstances.

She's calmed down alot now, I'm happy to say, but obviously we won't be able to completely feel relieved until her period comes.

This was indeed a once off, and I can assure you that this will not happen again, as seeing my girlfriend so distraught has scared some sense into us.

Any GP should have been able to give you a script.

My friend is a GP and when started out he use to cover GP's at the weekend. He was very busy giving out scripts - called it money for jam.

Glad all went well. maybe you should consider goin on the contraceptive pill incase it happens again. if not, and you find yourself in the same predicament again go to your local nowdoc or southdoc, theyll give it to you straight away!
