So I am currently recieving 204E a week in benefits, and I've been trying and trying to get jobs in full time retail or anywhere really. BUT i am only being offered 12 or 20 hour contracts at 10e an hour...now at best thats 200euro a week but then if you deduct tax/transport/living..is it worth my while?
I'm not a scrounger or anything, I really want a job. I deteste sitting aorund all day but is it worth my while?

i don't blame you, if it doesn't make sence to get a job cash wise then don't, my friend is out of work as is his gf,they've had the interest on their mortgage paid for the last year, now that's just been extended another 3 months,if 1 of them get a job their mortgage reverts back to normal so why would they bother,i have to be honest,i think there's too many free handouts in this poxy country and the scratcher should be lower

Are there realy no full-time jobs?
I thought with the students gone back to school & college the employers would need new staff.
Seems not which is a pity

That scheme was supposed to only last for 12 months. It's lucky for them it was extended but I doubt it'll be extended again.

I agree that if it will leave you worse off financially then you shouldn't get a job.

With respect, were you really looking for someone to give you an answer to your question? Or were you looking for exoneration/support for not doing "the right thing"?

Of course you shouldn't go back to work if you net less income. Nothing immoral there - it's not your fault it's tough to find jobs.

    Are you for real?

If there are bugger all jobs (a situation beyond the control of the average out-of-work jobseeker), and social welfare support is lowered (another situation beyond the control of the average out-of-work jobseeker), where would that leave the average out-of-work jobseeker?

If you've borrowed/spent beyond your means and find yourself out of work, then social welfare is not going to be much help to you. But you could argue that you were irresponsible, so the worse level of trouble you're in is your own fault.

But if not, social welfare support might just be getting you by till things come good, and that's a good thing.

If I've misunderstood yor message, forgive my tone.

Easier to find a decent full time job if you stay on the dole, I guess.
