    Hi

I am moved back to Donegal after 10 years away.

While living in the south east of England I got into the sport.

What sort of quary can I get in Donegal?

I know about Deer but what else is available?

There are grouse too in some spots, I managed to get some stalking from a farmer and on my first morning in this outta the way patch, I was glassing a few hinds that were yarded on a moor and the place had a healthy grouse population. it was in a place called A'@*%$£;-OOPS!:D

thats must be a very well outa the way place foxshooter , the golden eagle`s from glenvagh wouldn`t be helping the grouse in the hills

Yeah its a real backwater type of spot , got permissions on it a couple of years ago and on the first morning we tried to get a decent look at it we were shocked by the number of grouse calling, its a fairly decent sized moor too. The last time I shot a grouse was about 15 years back when I flushed a small covey on a hill outside buncrana, but theres hardly a groouse to be seen on that now:(-finding that spot was like stepping back 25 years:)

funnily enough that morning all thoughts of deer hunting were put to the one side and we kinda savoured the moment, we were sitting low in the heather glassing a few hinds , listening to grouse and we ranged a fox who sat on a banking at 255 yards watching our every move, money cant but it:)

well it depends what you are into and what your sport is and what type of gun you have.

I have a 12 and and smaller 20 gague shotgun.

I like anything that gets me into the fresh air for a good walk.

May get a rifle if there is good hunting in Donegal

:p no deer for you with your shotguns so.

there's as good of sport in donegal as their is in any other part of country IMO. you make your own sport.

if you have shotguns then either look for permission to hunt where they may be a few rabbits but if you have a shotgun your going to need a good rough shooting dog.

join or try get into your local gun club, get yourself a dog and head out hunting pheasents and the such.
