Surprised theres not a thread for this allready,
Great win for ulster 45-24 and brilliant match too. turned into an absolute tryfest towards the end, humphreys completely bossed stephen jones(the so called "best fly half in the northern hemisphere") and rightly got a man of the match. ngusa was fairly mercurial too

faloon goes over for a try.

Also, humphs beard is getting rediculous at this stage

Who calls Stephen Jones the best OH in the northen hemisphere?

Anyway was a very good match, Ulster can play some great rugby when the mood takes them. Delighted for them.

Well, he got picked for the lions, but I don't remember him being called the best OH in the hemisphere either.

Fair play to Ulster, good win.

At this rate Boss and Wallace should be looking for starts during the AI they deserve it on form they are both showing.

That's the problem with Humphreys, flashes of brilliance but then the next week he can't do his bread and butter stuff. Disappointing.

I dont think Ulster were as good as the scoreline suggests and Scarlets were terrible. Humphreys had a decent game tonight but I dont think he has done enough yet to push Sexton from an AIs start. Trimble's first try should have been a penalty to Scarlets as he clearly took out a player in his chase to the ball.

A great win for Ulster, another bonus point & now top of the league (well for 24 hours at least ;)). They are starting to play some fantastic rugby. However, as usual, many one-eyed/blinkered commentators will never give them (or Ian Humphreys) the credit they deserve.

If he does com back I doubt it would be to Ulster, as things stand that would be like putting a race horse in a donkey derby!

With Boss, Humphreys, Wallace, Cave, Trimble (great performance last night- almost back to his best), Nagusa & Schifcofske all playing well, the backline is looking a bit better than a "donkey derby"

Some great youngsters coming through also- Falloon, Whitten, Henry, Pollock, McComb etc.

With Neil Francis being his usual bitter-self on Setanta last week (Plastic Paddies etc.), hopefully Ulster can prove a few people wrong this season :P

Even as an Ulster supporter I have to agree with you about Scarlets - their level of play fell away very badly in second half and Trimble's try was fortunate to say the least. Thought Sean Lamont (very impressive up to this game) had a shocker and was at fault for at least 2 of Ulster's tries. Was very impressed with Jonathan Davies (must be in with a shout of starting Wales's AI's).
You couldn't fault Ulster's finishing though and their pace at coming on to the ball was most impressive. Nagusa looked a danger every time he got the ball while Cave must be in the frame for a start in at least one of the AI's. Real strength in depth now emerging in the back row for Ulster as Pollock/Henry are both injured. Bath (home) Edinburgh (away) and Leinster (home) will be a real test of how far they have come on in last couple of weeks.

Sexton has played very well with the game time he's got.
    O'Gara hasn't played yet either.

He's the form out half because he's the only one playing.

Ulster are definitely on the correct road, there is still alot to work on, namely, discipline in defensive situations. They have undoubtedly got serious young talent in squad and hopefully McLaughlin can continue the good work Matt Williams started. Ian Humphreys is not quite there yet for me, I am a massive fan of his, but he misses two many simple kicks in front of goal. The harder the kick, the more likely he is to get it. So maybe lack of composure or lack on concentration on easier kicks is his achilles heel?? At times in open play Humphreys in unplayable, he can be that good.

Couldn't agree with you more, give him a ball on the touch line at a tight angle and he'll slot it over but don't expect him to kick something right in front of the posts. He can be very very good or else he can be a disaster. If he could level out his consistency it would be great for the Irish team to suddenly have three 10s competing for the jersey.

Well done Ulster on a good win, here's hoping that they can thread another few together now.

Who would you have ahead of him?

    Johno Sexton!

    :p

Who would you have ahead of him?

He's the best national of a NH country playing at outhalf. The best OH playing in the NH tho, in my opinion, would be Brock James.

I'm not going to give a verdict on Ulster until i see them against Bath next week, that will be a serious test of their mettle.

This match against Bath will not be covered live by Sky so unless you're going to Ravenhill all you will see will be a few minutes showing tries from the game and very brief highlights.
