Since last few days I am having a problems with download speed on O2 bb - for the last few months everything was fine until wednesday. Ive called o2 support and theyve asked me to do speedtest on speedtest.net and then Ive found very strange thing - all the time my modem is connected in slower WCDMA mode but when Im beginning testing speed modem is switching itself to way faster HSPA ans showing download speeds around 2-3 Mbits which arent showing up very often. Mr.helpdesk was very pleased of himself and he explains to me that my problem is that I have 3 pages opened at the same time, and my download speed is very very good.

Sa here is my question, if any of you have O2bb - can you please check if its speeding up when doing speedtes? Mayne Im overreacting, but it looks really strange.

I get UMTS (which is W-CDMA) on mine all the time. It depends on your signal strength, and it will vary. There's nothing you can do about it, and short of installing more masts, nothing O2 can do either.

I'm not sure Speedtest is the best monitor anyway. I've got O2's midband and it's gone to the absolute dogs in the last fortnight or so. It's like 3 all over again. Anyway I had some fun trying to get a suitably sucky speedtest or two to show how bad it is. A couple of them were pretty implausible.

Using one now, its fine in this area. Getting over 1Mbps connection up/down and using it to play TF2 with 100-150ms ping times with the odd lag spike up to 300ms.

Mast is just down the road. Magnet also have a speedtest thingy on their site that uses the same software as speedtest.net AFAIK so if you try there's, it might give a different result.

I noticed my little brother has it bookmarked on the parents laptop BTW so maybe that's an indication that he thinks its more reliable than the speedtest.net test.
