Mothers Renault Clio started making a weird engine noise over the last couple of days.

It sounds like a very high pitched squeal when the car is revved.

Its in it the whole time from start up to turning it off when shes driving.

Today the Airbag warning light stayed on as well for awhile as well as a spanner warning light came out which means its advisable to bring the car to a mechanic.

She's bringing it to a mechanic in the morning but was wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be in the meantime, I've uploaded a video of the noise on youtube and it should be below.

I have heard that noise before on a Clio, IIRC it needed an aux belt tensioner or pulley. Sorry can't remember how much it cost, it was done at the same time as the timing belt, the car was coming up to a timing belt change anyway.

Thanks , I had thought it would be a pulley alright, sounds like that. The car is nowhere near the interval for the timing belt to be done though, but probably best to get it done now too anyway?
