I've had my laptop coming up to a year now, it's a Hp Pavillion Dv6700.. Specs can be found here : http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/notebooks/0,39050488,42811522p,00.htm

Some other specs / info : Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, 3gb Ram (not 2gb as in the Link)
Anyways, on with the question. Today I bought a Blu-ray box set of Fringe (Best show ever :D).. When I put the dvd in, nothing popped up, asking me what to do, as it usually does, no biggie. Then when I opened up Windows Media Player, it was as if I never put in the blu-ray. Same happened with Realplayer, Quickplay, Windows Media Center. I'm p*ssed off, E50 for the box set, and it won't even work.

Can anyone help me trying to get it to work..? Any advice is much appreciated :p

Try it in a PS3 if you know anyone with one and see does it work.. Check for updated Blue-Ray drive firmware on the HP website, other than that have you watched Blue ray discs successfully on the laptop before?

New Blu-Ray won't play on what is now an old blu-ray drive.

No harm in trying this but don't get your hopes up.

My m8 has a ps3, but do you need a hd tv to get the better resolution??
This is the only time I've tried to play a blu-ray on the laptop, I thought I would treat myself with fringe

    Drivers?

"Coming up to a year now"

Get on their tech support. If it needs to be sent off youll want to do it within the year before it costs you an assload.

You don't mention whether you have tried any other Bluray disks which worked / failed, so we've to guess not.

This is anacdotal as I don't have Bluray, but I was informed that you require a 3rd party player to play Bluray. After it's installed, some Bluray movies will work in windows media player, the ones that don't use java.

Try the trial version of powerdvd
    http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd/features_en_US.html
to see whether you need to spend another 50 quid
