'Ethernet Cable not connected'

Recently this pop up has been 'poppin' up a lot on my ps3 screen.
First this pops up then you get signed out of the PSN, it's very frustrating when I'm in the middle of an online game, particularly UFC.

Now I checked the cable and there's no problems with it, it even happens when i'm on the internet browser on the ps3 but the internet doesn't knock off or anything so there's obviously no problem with the cable, a couple of guy's in my friends list said its been happening to them a lot lately too.

Anyone here having this problem/have any solutions??

I tried 2 different cables on my old PS3 and neither worked, tried both and another on my Slim and none worked. Tried one more and it's worked perfectly since. Think the ports on PS3 might be a little awkward.

I had this problem at the start aswell. I had it wired and I dont know if it was a problem with the PS3 port itself or the router. It was a linksys 54G. I had some other issues with this router aswell particularly wireless just dropped the odd time. In the end I changed the router and ended up getting a Netgear 834. Haven't had any issues at all since I changed and would recommend it to anyone. Was a recommendation from a fellow boardsie to boot.

I have this problem currently. The ps3 won't even detect that I plugged in an ethernet cable. I tried two different cables and a few different sockets.

    Any idea?

also does anyone have contact details for Sonys tech support?

Thats not really the same issue were having, our connection randomly drops off. Anyway are you sure your not using a crossover cable ? you need a standard patch cable as far as im aware.
