We currently have a 2008 terminal server which has user CALs and TS user cals. We are upgrading our exchange server to 2008 OS. I know our exchange licensing requirements but do we need new server user CALs. Or do the existing user CALs cover this.
In short do CALs allow each user access to a range of servers or do we need an additional CAL for each user for each server they access?

This is the typical case provided that the CALs were not specified as "per Server" when they were added to the original server.

The existing User CALs for Windows Server 2008 will license those users for multiple Windows 2008 and earlier servers.
And this time they didn't create separate Windows 2008 R2 CALs, so you can use the old licenses with a new windows 2008 R2 server.
