I've rode their DH bikes before when i lived in Canada. Nice bikes, solid manufacture, and pretty well respected in Canada.

What model and spec? or any idea?

I have a Da Vinci as my winter bike. I has done a fair few miles since 2003 on it and seems to be still holding together! Mine is pretty heavy, but for the price i paid for it i do consider it as having been a good buy.

I think I've been offered the same deal. I said I was a pretty big guy-6'4" with 35 inch leg-and i was told that the Giant Defy 3 was sold out but there was a Devinci with a slightly higher spec for just 50 quid more!? The guy reccomended it but if its all he has in my size, of course he'll reccomend it, its business! I asked for the model and was told it was a Sona?! I looked it up and found no Devinci Sona but there are Shimano Sona so i guess thats what he means? The Sona components are quite good as far as i can find out on the googleiser so thats a plus but the question is, whats the bike like? Its manufacturered and sold mainly in Canada and so prices online in Canadian Dollars are not really that comparable seeing as there would be cheaper pricing as a native bike. Is it worth the 700 or so quid is the question. I'm gonna call in and see the bike maybe this evening, then get back online and do a bit more investigation. I'll be back to you. (the one thing i will say-their paint jobs look great and they have a decent rep enough!!!)

    A :o

Sora is second from the bottom of Shimano's road components. It is good solid stuff.

€700 for a Sora equipped aluminium bike, carbon fork from a local shop sounds around ballpark.

The bikes themselves look nice- is it the Silverstone SL2 (which is mostly Sora with a Tiagra rear mech) or the Silverstone 1 (mostly 2300 with Sora rear mech?) The new 2300 looks decent too mind.

Ok, Not sure what to make of this now. Went to view the bike and its actually a Da Vinci not De Vinci!!! so its not a SL2 or anything like that so i have a few question marks. So Helpde8k, if you have been offered a proper Devinci im afraid I cant be sure the offer i've been given applies to your query.
But I'll describe it anyway and give ye the story on it just in case its the same.
Its called a Da Vinci 7005v, its a full aluminum frame (it says 7005 series heat treated aluminum frame) with carbon forks and Gipiemme wheels. The guy in the shop (and i will say, fair props to him, he's straight up and he knows his stuff) says that these wheels are a deep set wheel and are above average for a road bike of this kind. says thats a major advantage when you're big like me as it tries to minimize buckling etc. He has offered to set me up on it and has given me a years service and fitting on it. Its completely a plain black frame with a few stickers on but they look a bit odd-like a bit of an after thought so i would probably look to take them off or snazz it up just a little myself but we'll see. They give the impression its italian made-little italia flag etc! (the main point is there's no fancy paintjob!) But it defo is the full sora groupset-everything from brakes to gears to derailurs etc. There is nothing about this bike online-it doesnt look like its a brand that exists at this spec!? (there is a davinci custom bike builder but this isnt that!!!)

In short, this looks like a no-name 59cm aluminum frame bike with carbon forks, full sora groupset and decent wheels with fitting and maintenance for a year! (it also comes with pedals so thats another 50 bucks saved apparently!!)

Blorg-would you still reckon its a decent buy as a starter bike for 795 euro??? (thats the one thing that says to me that maybe me and Helpde8k are looking at different bikes-the 100 euro in the difference-but you never know-two different shops could differ hugely on a no name bike!?)
Sunshine cyclist-is yours Da or Devinci? You could be the best POR for this!?
I have a pic but its off the phone so...if you wanna look let me know but not sure how much help it could be?!
Thanks folks, (sorry helpde8k if im kinda hijackin your post-hope its still relevant!??!)
    Alio
