Was just perusing Joe's website, trying to figure out where he got it into his head that Lisbon would privatise health and education, when I came across this statement of intent:
The alternative to the neo liberal policies in the Lisbon Treaty is a socialist approach. The main corporations and major financial institutions should be put under public ownership and democratic workers’ control.
    http://www.joehiggins.eu/2008/03/lisbon-treaty-pushes-privatisation-agenda/

I always wondered if we could change anything to convince Joe to say yes, and apparently all it takes is to insert an article in the treaty seizing private property in the form of existing businesses and handing them over to a subsection of society of Joe's own choosing labelled 'workers'. Obviously it's a subsection, otherwise he would have merely said public ownership and democratic control.

That would certainly be great news for the economy, I'm sure. People should really check out what the 'better deal' the likes of Higgins is seeking actually consists of.

    so hes a communist!

sounds familiar? well yes it is
The Communist Party of Ireland is an all-Ireland Marxist party founded in 1933. Its aim is to win the support of the majority of the Irish people for ending the capitalist system and for building socialism—a social system in which the means of production, distribution and exchange are publicly owned and utilised for the benefit of the whole people.

The point being, people should think about the 'better deal' which Higgins wants, and decide if that's a 'better deal' for them.

I never agreed with his politics but had on occasion given him a preference. In a kind of help keep the other politicians honest kind of way. However after all the lies he's told recently I'll never ever give him a vote again and I know a few more people like me too.
