Because the MPEG4 picture quality is much better than MPEG2 UPC, I have come to rely on the digital tests for the Irish channels.
TV3 yesterday was coming up with a test card all day yesterday, I'm not sure what its like today.
Come on testers , how long do you have to test it in this mode. Give us back our picture. A couple of weeks ago TV3 sound was about 3 seconds out of sync for weeks.
    Get it sorted dudes.

Don't worry -- it's still a test :) It should come back. Until then, ITV is a good replacement if you have it or analogue TV3.

From a reliable source inside RTE NL ,I gather there was a lip sync issue on the particular coder carrying TV3. Has been taken off air to rectify and will be back soon.

I doubt if that's the specific reason. Audio and video synchronisation are configureable parameters and wouldn't need the encoder taken off-air. Audio on TV3 was hugely out of sync for weeks, but was fixed subsequently. TV3 and, at other times TG4 have been replaced by colour bars for long periods. Just testing;)

Maybe they haven't paid their carriage fee.

Maybe they haven't paid their carriage fee.

They haven't because there is no service yet :) they are not required to pay until a service is officially launched

I see TG4 was a test card last night too. Frigging hell, I have to go back to NTHell to watch the Irish channels. The MPEG4 broadcasts are so clear.

Maybe they haven't paid their carriage fee.

That is quite likely , look at their other cost cutting measure in recent months
