I think I hardly ever start a thread so I figured I'd get one in just before the end....

Why are we in Ireland so worried about the following when other states are in similar situations...

Corporate tax rates, when some states have lower rates...

    Bulgaria 10%
    Cyprus 10%
    Ireland 12.5%
    Latvia 15%
    Romania 16%
    Poland 19%
    Slovakia 19%
    ...
    Germany approx 30%
    France 33%

Abortion, when it is also illegal in:

    Poland
    Malta

Being outvoted because we are small, when there are smaller states...

    Populations smaller than Ireland's 4.2m
    Malta 0.4m
    Luxembourg 0.46m
    Cyprus 0.77m
    Estonia 1.3m
    Slovenia 2.0m
    Latvia 2.3m
    Lithunania 3.4m

Losing our neutrality when other states are neutral...

    Austria
    Finland
    Sweden

Being less democratic... when other states are considered more democratic than us.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index
    1 Sweden 9.88 Full democracy
    3 Iceland 9.65 Full democracy
    4 Netherlands 9.53 Full democracy
    5 Denmark 9.52 Full democracy
    6 Finland 9.25 Full democracy
    9 Luxembourg 9.10 Full democracy
    12 Ireland 9.01 Full democracy
    13 Germany 8.82 Full democracy
    14 Austria 8.49 Full democracy

Well the fact is is that the EU is not portrayed by the No side as a the kind of extremely loose federation that it is. This is because they are anti-EU and the best way to promote this sentiment is to paint the EU as an organization out to get us. Talking about Malta does not work because no one is afraid of Malta.

Its still good that you have compiled this data. I wasn't aware the Finland was neutral.
