There was a Wild boar knocking around Tipp earlier this year.
One page article in this months ISD,Titled; Irelands first wild boar hunt?

Local lad who is a deer hunter dropped it,with a .243 rifle with a Federal 100 grain load.110kgs on the scales. Not much info as to where it possibly came from. But it behaved like a pig ,scared the locals and rooted up a few fields before heading off to the great acorn feed in the sky.:)

Sooo,if there is one out there.. is there possibly...More????:D:D:D:D

there has been plenty of boar shot hear , some recently in wicklow .

its a pity to see this right up in ISD , the lad that shot is only stalking a few years and has shot a handful of animals .

the boar was shot due to the ignorance of people that did not know any better .
there is a estimated 10,000 in and around berlin with no mass hysteria

So why JW is that such a bad thing???just because he shot a "handful "of animals??
Kind of amazing that if there have other boar shot before this no one ever seems to hear of it???

BTW I would question seriously your comment on Berlin and no mass hysteria.More like MASS ANGER,of the good Berliners having their lawns dug up,their vegtable plots rooted over,a few of them attacked trying to shift them with brooms etc. This is in the suburbs btw.And of course it being "red Berlin" the very idea of letting hunters deal with it is anethema to the collective comrades.
Now ,if we can nail a big cat as well...??

(1)iv no problem with the guy , will he wright a book about it ?.

    (2) if i had your address i would have sent you a invite to the BBQ.

    (3) 10,000 boar yes thats a lot ,i would say more are injured pulling up there zips thats of course if they had something to catch in it in the first place.

The shooting community i am around and in Ireland in general (i think) is very "hold your wisht"or "tell them nothing" attitude about shooting, hunting and the biggest secrets are where they shoot, so i wouldnt be surprised if there was alot of boar around and people wouldnt have spoken about it, i have been trying to get into the hunting / deer hunting cliqué around here for years to maybe learn a bit from someone more experienced to no avail, people want to keep everything a secret so i wouldnt be surprised at all!

Id henestly love to see a healthy population here once its maintained efficiently, they used be one of our native animals after all. Were hunting wild boar in Ireland a lot longer than were hunting any sika or fallow thats for sure! We just took 350+ year break :P

I'm just back from Borneo, went trekking in the jungle to see orangutan, pigmy elephant, proboscis monkey, monitor lizard etc.... had a really good time. Got a boat to a jungle island to crash for a while and this girl popped out of the jungle to raid the bins on the beach!!! Those bins were big, she was really strong and fast, her shoulder came well above a mans hip, much bigger than any dog (bulk and height, shorter than a wolfhound, but broader than a mastiff).

    Are they Walkers?
Couldn't they be one of those big bags of Frito lays?

It's Borneo, not Bournemouth! No walkers crisps I'm afraid. Most of what was in the bin would have been Asian bags of bags, (12 pack versions of your Walkers crisps dojojoe) fish bones, junk and veg peelings. Lot's of Chinese tourism in Malaysia. This is an island off Kota Kinabalu, so it's pretty accessible. Still gas to see the fooker march down and cause mayham. Bunny shooter, the photo may look odd, I had the flash on. High intense light in the backround, shooting in the shade and all... I have vids too, I will pm you them if you want. I just thought I would put a shot up there, you lot talking about boars and all... But, I promise you, it was strong, fast, powerful and energetic in that heat!
