My boyfriend and I have decided we are getting married next October in Vegas.

Is it too soon to book it??? I really want to have something booked.

Also if anyone else has got married over there, id be grateful for any advice, especially any places to have a reception/dinner out there?

    Thanks

No, I think they will take bookings a year in advance.

Check out Little Church of the West.

The flight schedule is only 11 months in advance so i cant book that till end of November.
Would like to have something booked though, or is it better to do everything together?

Personally I'd wait and get you flights & hotel etc booked and then book everything else (church and restaurant).

There is such a choice of places that you should have no problems getting dates you want etc.

What hotel are you looking at staying in? (I'd reccomend the Bellagio considering you are getting married etc :))

How many people are going with you for the meal etc?

I was thinking of staying at the Signature at MGM. Its a non casino, and meant to be quietish.

I reckon there will be about 10 people there in total.

Im looking to go to San Franciso 1st then fly off to vegas. I have a date in mind, just waiting for the flight schedules. I dont think there will be a problem getting flights.

Signature is nice. The hotel parts of all the hotels are always quiet - just the casinos that are full of hustle and bustle. This for me is the attraction of Vegas (the noise!) but that is fine if this does not appeal to you.

Re the meal/reception for 10 people. How formal/casual do you want to go?

I would not recommend the Top of the World in the Stratosphere - I think the set "wedding menu" is at a way over inflated price. Also down that end of the strip is not such a nice place for your wedding reception.

Suggestion: if you are ringing/emailing restaurants/hotels about a room/set menu do not say it is for a wedding. Describe it as a meal for ten people (bit like over here, the minute they hear wedding the price goes up!)

Doubt it will be very formal. i will be in my wedding dress, but it wont be majorily dressed up. I just want somewhere for a decent meal.

What do i do about a cake?

just back from vegas. I would check out bellagio or venetian- both great hotels & you would have nice photos from both. MGM would not be as nice in my opinion.

    We didn't have a cake.

Are you having a party at home when you come back? You could have a cake at that?

I am sure the restaurant/hotel in Vegas could organise the cake for you (watch the cost though! ;)) You could also just order a cake from a bakery in Las Vegas (google!) and go collect it or see if they can deliver to the restaurant/hotel.

Just remember to factor in tips for everything.

eg. Tip for the limo driver (prob. 50 dollars)
Tip for the person who marries you (100 dollars?)
Most churches when you book will advise of same - they are set tips - but if you are happy with the job done feel free to tip more.

If you get a cake delivered you will need to tip for delivery on top of delivery charges.

Don't go for the set wedding packages - cheaper to organise a meal yourself.

www.tripadviser.com forums can be very helpful.

I looked at Bellagio, but i can get a much bigger room at mgm signature for the same price.

I heard about the tipping alright.

Definitely think i will do what you all suggested. Just go to a resturant, and have a normal meal, and pick up the bill

    Hey Snoopy

It's too soon to book flights but you could book everything else.

We're getting married in the Chapel of the Flowers in Feb and we booked that in April. We've got Glamsquad coming to our hotel room for hair & makeup. After the ceremony we're going back to our hotel room to cut the cake, we're getting ours from LV Cake Designs, LV & Freeds seem to be the most popular bakerys for wedding cakes. After that we're going on a photo tour of the strip. Our photographer is Bently & Wilson, these are also really popular and need to be booked well in advance. In the evening we're going to Prime in the Bellagio for our meal. This can only be booked 3 months in advance.

I've done a lot of research into this so feel free to pm me if you want to ask me anything. The following forums are also really good for LV weddings.

It's a really nice chapel. I haven't read any bad reviews about it at all. Have you looked at their video's online?

You couldn't have picked a better place than Prime for your meal!!! When we were in Vegas, everybody told us to go eat there but it was booked out every single night and we were there for a week! So disappointed :( It's meant to be the best steakhouse in Vegas. Enjoy!

I know I've heard great reviews about it. The only thing I'm worried about is sitting in the middle of a steakhouse in my wedding dress :o how embarrassed will I be?! lol

Thats what i was worrying about. However you will probably get used to it, if your wandering around during the day. Also my mum has said there's always a lot of brides in Vegas, so no-one really pays that much attention.

Yeah apparently there are brides floating around everywhere. I've heard that people on the street clap and wish you congratulations as you pass then ...I'm going to be soooo mortified!!! lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,423 ✭✭✭tinkerbell

No, don't be embarrassed about being in your wedding dress at Prime! I saw quite a few brides wandering around in the Bellagio the week I was there! I was also there for a friend's wedding - we didn't eat in Prime now but in a different place in the Bellagio and nobody bats an eyelid! It's normal over there! :)

I am so jealous you're gonna be eating at Prime! I need to go back to Vegas just to go to Prime! lol

lol ...I'll bring you back a doggy bag :D
I've heard loads of great things about Prime so hopefully it'll be ok. It looks really dated on their website but a lot of places in Vegas seem to look like that.

Ohh I'm living for it, I'm so excited thinking about the wedding, the holiday in Vegas and our honeymoon! They'll get no work out of me for the next few months! lol
