Hello all, My sony Vaio hard drive ( C 40gig, D 40gig) was completely full and I attempted to clean it up and remove what I do not use. I went to add/remove programes and sorted by use. I then deleted the programmes which were 'rarely' used and I have got myself into trouble. there is no sound at all now and for sure I have lost word as I can not open word docs. I really need to rectify the problem and any help will really be appreciated,

    thanks in advance,

    BB

Thanks Sugarman but it did not work :( I feel like a prat for doing this as I should know better. After reboot it came up that the computer cannot be restored to the date I selected, in red, I really am freaked out that I could be in trouble and although I know my way around computers fairly well I cannot seem to find what I havew deleted or how to restore it,

    Anyone any other ideas??

    thanks

    BB

You will need to go to www.sony.com, locate the "Support" or "Drivers & download" sections, and get the sound card drivers for your particular model installed, if this confuses you please post the full laptop model code so I could help further, if you baught microsoft office (the program used to open word, excel files usually) you should have received a re-install disc with license code to restore it, if you didnt purchase the software, or you were using a free program probably loaded onto the laptop such as "Microsoft works", you can download a free fully compatible Office suite which will open and edit the files from www.openoffice.org,

    Hope this helps
