VW golf diesel battery cables

    Hi,

I've searched for a similar topic but couldn't find one, so apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, and apologies in advance for my lack of car knowledge!

The connectors on the battery in my diesel VW Golf broke (don't ask me how, haven't solved that mystery yet), so my father-in-law took the cables from his car to put them into this one, thinking he'd get new cables for his. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to find any, as they don't seem to be sold separately. Does anyone have any ideas whether the cables can be got separately, and if so, where? Or does the whole battery and everything need to be bought in order to get the cables (I really hope not!)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
