    Hi just wondering about something.

I'm buying concert tickets from a guy whose ad i saw on Gumtree. He is requesting a bank transfer of the money- €160.

If, on the off chance, he's not legit and he takes the money and legs it, do I have any comeback??? Or would I just be broke, with no tickets, feeling pretty stupid.

    Thanks guys!!
    ;)

Gumtree is a haven for scammers- always use something that is traceable if the guy is not legit.

I know loads of people who have been ripped off on that site- and it he is not willing to meet you and hand over the tickets 99% of the time it is a scam.

is he going to post u the tickets after he receives the money?

Doubt if Gumtree terms and conditions include any warranty or imdemnity to those using their services.

Unwise to deal this way unless you have a face to face exchange.

But if I have his account no (which I'll have for the transfer) and his name and an email saying he's selling me the tickets, would I have a come back if the tickets are fake/never arrive??

    Thanks a million for reply

Yes which is part of the reason I'm wary about it.

How do you know it is his account no. He could be using the account no. of someone who has long gone back to the home country. You could send money, discover after that the account was emptied and belongs to someone who has not ben in the country for years.

You may have a comeback if you have the documentation you mention and if it is genuine. However the economics of starting a legal action for €160 even by yourself in the small claims court are doubtful.

You would of course be entitled to persue a claim to get the money back if you never got them but to be honest if you think it's anyway dodgy, dont.

If it looks like a duck,
and it walks like a duck,
and it quacks like a duck,
    It probably is a duck!

    Same with a scam.
