Sticky Problem - Clutch?

Right lads, any educated guess's on what I've got here and ball park estimates?

Driving along no problem in light traffic when the almost instantly the clutch becomes "spongy," changing gears becomes a chore, especially down into 1st.
Revs also seem loopy, (Foot down and I get fook all, and then all of a sudden revs jump up 4 or 5K and car jumps too,) and poke seems to have died too, especially in 3rd.

Car hasn't given me a moments bother before. Is this just the clucth or could it be a more serious issue?
    Opinions appreciated.

Sounds like the clutch is gone alrite. What kinda mileage is on the
car. Ball park price i'd say for an indy mechanic to change a clutch €450
or there abouts. What kind of car are you driving.

    Cheers Muckie,

Its an 04' Alfa 156 with 51K miles on the clock.
2 indys I've rang this morning have quoted €700 - 800 for replacement.

Jesus, didnt think it'd be that expensive!
Ring a few more, some garage show be able to better than that.
Even try an Alfa garage see what they say.

    Rang 2 main Alfa dealers - €850 to €1k.
Off to the indys with me then.

    Cheers Muckie!

Good luck A-Trak. Hope it cost a bit less than that
and you have it back on the road in no time.
