I would say that there will be all sorts of trickery going on as we strive to get the "correct" decision.

I would say your completely and utterly wrong.

Coir plans to monitor polling and box seals.

As Stalin says knew well, it's not who votes, it's who counts the votes.

    ahem

Mr Ganley had demanded a re-check of the bundles of votes at the count centre in Castlebar, Co Mayo, because he was concerned that up to 11,000 votes could have been mistakenly allocated to another candidate.

But the re-check revealed that he himself had got 3,000 votes in error from independent candidate Fiachra O Luain and this cut his first preferences back to 67,000. This put him 13,000 votes behind the three front-runners.

    :D

Starting the 'stolen referendum' myth a bit early there Sinead, you might want to wait until you actually lose...

Not sure why you're implying foul play here, it's standard practice for interested parties to monitor polling stations. It's essential to the democratic process!

This is the real world, buddy.

As for losing, don't you be jumping the gun. The "establishment" must be very worried about the outcome, how else can you expain the outright fear mongering?

In a world where sending people out the wording of the proposed amendment with their polling card is 'propeganda' you can't be too careful I suppose. Be sure to strap on that tinfoil hat good and tight tommorrow.

Jesus with the amount of inverted commas flying around here you'd think we were in the conspiracy theories board

Do they not have to appropriately registered as electoral agents first, otherwise they are not allowed to be present at the polling stations. I think it is inherently wrong to allow any vested interest to be allowed monitor polling stations - it raises all manner of issues relating to undue influence and flies in the face of democracy.

Let them be there at the tallying by all means but they can feck off away from the polling stations.

They wouldn't accept the thread without a coherent CT behind it. Now if the "vote-rigging" claims were a Bilderberg conspiracy, rather than psychological preparation for a possible defeat, it might have legs there.

Is it even legal to have someone 'monitor' the polling boxes, other than the election officials? I can only hope there are some Cóir heads watching the polling booths/boxes when I go vote..

You can apply to be considered as an official agent, but as mentioned, I really can't see a grant benn given to an vested interest. Generally it's only the officials and the Gardai.
