Doing a different job other than what's on my contract.

    Hi guys, wonder if any one can help me with this query.

    I started a job with a company over two years ago, was given a contract which states the job title. After around 6 months I was offered to be 'rotated' into a different, more responsible position, initially with no raise or change in contract, but it was implied that this could be changed later.

    So over a year after this and no new contract, can I refuse to continue to do the new job and insist I be given my old position if they refuse to give me a new contract/raise? My contract merely states the Job Title and not a lot else.

    Yeah contract states that you are only required to do what you job title tells you to do. You dont have to keep doing the job you're currently doing if its not in your contract. You need to read up more on this but thats what I learned in college.

    OP, as far as contract law [or any matter of law for that case] is concerned, do not accept any advise given here to be 100% accurate. Consult a solicitor if you feel you are hard done by.

    I'm not taking anything here as legal advice, just wondering if anyone had any experience in the matter, I will consult a solicitor if it comes to that.
