With the release of Toy Story 3D and the impending release of Up (well, impending over here) there has been a fair bit of Pixar interest and discussion. So I thought it'd be interesting to set up poll and gauge public opinion about which is their best to date. I put Up in the poll because we're so late in getting it and a lot of people have seen it.

    So, what say everyone?

What is your favourite Pixar release? 60 votes

    Up (2009)
    0% 0 votes
    Wall-E (2008)
    13% 8 votes
    Ratatouille (2007)

I picked the 1st Toy Story, for the innovation at the time and the chemistry between Hanks and Allen that was really outstanding considering it was just their voices, and the overall humour in the film.
Can't wait for 3D, hoping to go on Monday (What a choice for a wedding anniversary date! :D)

    How can I pick???
I love Wall-E, Ratatouille, Cars, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc. and Toy Story most.

If you forced me I could narrow it down to Monsters Inc. & Finding Nemo (mainly for Dori)

Really looking forward to Up and am forcing myself to wait for the cinema relaese!

I picked the second Toy Story. Really it should be the first because of the originality and innovation of it, but I just think they did something amazing with Toy Story 2. I mean to follow the first with such brilliance. Can't wait for 3.

I don't really get the Wall-E craze.... nothing more than a nice cute movie. Maybe I should watch it again sometime.

The first Toy Story for me..

Though all are excellent in my eyes bar "A Bug's Life" and "Cars".

Haven't seen many of them but I'll always like the Toy Stories. :)

Monsters, Inc. for definite. I love that movie so much and could watch it over and over. It's so funny and Boo is just so darn cute. A Bug's Life or Ratatouille are tied second.

Saw Toy Story 3D and honestly I don't think the 3D made much difference to the experience at all for me.

Thought Up was alright. Nothing special.

Its a toss up between Toy Story 2 or The Incredibles for me, both deal with themes way beyond what a kids movies it meant to, loss of childhood, fear of rejection, the functional family etc The Incredibles is often forgotten when people are talking about great superhero movies, its easily as good as The Dark Knight or Spider-man 2 when it comes to epic superhero stuff, and Toy Story 2 may be the best sequel ever made alongside Empire Strikes Back

Ok so I'm probably alone in being meh about Toy Story and hating the second one. I just find myself extremely irritated and bored while trying to watch them. That cowgirl doll in the second one I have an irrational hatred for.

Anyway WALL·E, shouldn't even be a contest, although haven't seen Up yet!

The original Toy Story. It's just a bit more classic than Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, more well-structured. And the characters are just crazy good, there aren't many other films with so many memorable characters.

Followed closely by Monsters Inc., The Incredibles and Finding Nemo.

The latest three Pixars- Ratatouille, Cars, WALL-E were all big let downs to me. What was so great about Pixar was it made everything interesting and entertaining, even when I had no interest in superheroes, or monsters, or insects... but the last three were just boring.

I haven't seen UP yet, but I can't wait. The trailers have sparked my interest a lot, whereas I didn't pay any attention to the Ratatouille/Cars/WALL-E ones. My faith is going to be totally rattled if UP doesn't live up. I've turned my back on Disney, Dreamworks... I'm completely reliant on Pixar now, so it's gonna be awful if I'm disappointed for the fourth consecutive time.

I didn't bother going to see Cars when it came out coz I like my Pixar movies to be about furry talking things but I watched it on DVD about 2 years after its release and LOVED it!! Mater is a brilliant character. Same with Wall-E...thought it looked terrible but turned out it was really good.

Can't believe how many votes The Incredibles is getting...I think it is my least favourite of the bunch (although I have only seen it once)

Loved The Incredibles and thought it would lead to a few sequels.

How they couldn't do a sequel for this but yet are going to make Cars2:confused:

Now that you mention it, isnt that a quote from The Little Mermaid? Im pretty sure Flounder says that at some point.

The Incredibles is my favourite. The humour is so sharp, the way they apply real world problems to a super hero universe (particularly in the 'why superheroes dont wear capes anymore' montage).

    Plus Sam Jackson :D

In fairness, that was pretty much ripped straight from Watchmen. But I love Jackson in it, especially at the end when he's arguing with his wife to get his costume.

But I had to vote for Toy Story. As said above, the chemistry between the leads and also between the rest of the characters, was fantastic. But everything else about it was brilliant too. I can't wait for Up.

Toy Story 2, it's pretty much perfect.

    In order:

    Toy Story 2
    Finding Nemo
    Toy Story
    Up
    Ratatouille
    Wall-E
    Monsters Inc
    The Incredibles
    A Bugs Life
    Cars

Toy Story 2 closely followed by the first Toy Story, Wall-E and Up.

I really can't wait for the day that Pixar attempt to make a film that is more adult orientated than those that have been produced over the past 10 years. The first half of Up and Wall-E really hinted at what they could achieve.

The Incredibles, the James Bond villain island was just too cool.

On a sentimental level, Toy Story 1 as I saw it at the perfect age, on opening day, and it had a massive impact. Toy Story 2 I can't really seperate from it either because they are both fantastic. Collectively they are a single masterpiece.

WALL-E is the closest after that, mainly because I thought it was an extremely brave and successful break away from the typical American animated fare. What a welcome break a largely silent protagonist was from talking animals. And the amount of character they managed to wring out of computerised voice samples and expressions are astonishing. Nice satirical edge too.

Incredibles probably after that, than Nemo, Monster's Inc. and Ratatouille. Can only agree with popular opinion that A Bug's Life and Cars are the weakest, but still watchable. Pixar have set the bar so high though, and along with Ghibli (and I'd say Ghibli have more out-and-out duds than Pixar with the likes of Earthsea or the Cat Returns) are the best animation studios around.

This line in Monsters Inc always makes me laugh
    Randall
: Okay, I think I know how to make this all go away. What happens when the whistle blows in five minutes?
Mike: I get a time out?
Randall: Everyone goes to lunch! Which means the scare floor will be...
    Mike: ...Painted?

As to my favourite Pixar film..................I dunno,I'll have to watch them all again.

Tough call. I wish there was an "all" option. I went for Toy Story 2, purely because so many sequels are cheap imitations of the original, and for what is essentially a kid's movie to produce one of my top sequels of all time pips it for the win over Wall-E.

    Wall-e hands down.

Pardon me. Yes it certainly is a direct quote from Finding Nemo, but wasn't there a very similar quote in The Little Memaid (by Flounder)? I havent seen the film in a while, so am not entirely certain.

The part where Flounder is describing to King Triton his and Ariel's encounter with a shark perhaps? It is rather similar. Can't remember the exact quote but it's followed by "and then this seagull came and he was all this is this and that is that..."
