PS3 Purchase decision

I'm going to be buying a PS3 tomorrow. I've decided that I want Fifia 10 and a second controller with it.

So my options from Smyths are this:
PS3 Slim + Fifa 10 + Second Controller - €350

PS3 Phat + Fifa 10 + Second Controller + 2 games from the following list: (Resistance Fall of Man, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destiny, Ridge Racer 7, GT 5, Uncharted Drakes Fortune). - €360

Both deals also include two €5 vouchers and a loyalty card.


I have no space restrictions so don't need to buy the Slim. Basically, I'm wondering if it's worth the €10 to get two of the games form that list or are they all terrible? I haven't followed PS3 releases as I haven't had one until now.

Also, if there are any other deals that you think are better value than above, I'd appreciate hearing about them.


Any help would be greatly appreciated,

just pick the ps3 phat uncharted and heavenly sword is absolutely worth it!

There is a new 250gb PS3 slim coming out (today i think) with 2 free platinum games ( same list you mentioned ) for 349.99. It might be worth considering if you plan to store videos or games on the PS3. Digital downloads are becoming more popular.

But if you are happy with a SP3 phat then i would recomend from the list ( yes they are well worth the extra tenner)
Uncharted : one of the better games on the console greeat fun and will work as a good introduction for Uncharted 2 out on the 16th of Oct which will be the biggest game on any console all year.

Resistence fall of man : starts off bad but soon turns into a very good First person shooter.

Motorstorm : Good arcade racer

GT : Good racing sim.

yeah I heard that the ps3 slim 250gb was coming out today, can anyone confirm if it definitely did? The 250gb bundle with 2 platinum games sounds like a good deal to me.

Yup it came out today, I remember a guy in zavvi last week telling me they were going to have the +2 platinum games free with it aswell. I think thats a general sony offer so gamestop and the like should do it too.

Ah i reckon 80 Gig on the console itself is fine because I've got a lot of external storage myself.

Thanks for the advice on the games - now I just have to hope they have the good ones in stock!

yeah i had a look at some of the deals after work, game have a good one, 385 euro for the 250gb model +4 games new ones too like fifa10 and fightnight 4 etc
