I got a '02 clio, and when I got it a few months ago I was told that if I put on the hazards that when theyre switched off they might come on again a few minutes later, that was grand didnt use them, but a couple of days ago I accidently pressed them, but they didn't come on, however the next morning when I got up, they were on. So they just decided to come on in the early hours, it has since happened every night/early morning and its drained my battery.

    Has anyone had similar problems?

Sounds like its a either a faulty hazard switch or the indicator relay.
I'd be looking at replacing the hazard switch, easy enough to do,
pops off the dash, visit to your local scrapyard should get you the parts
    probably €5 each.

Thanks Muckie, I took the switch out, I wasnt sure how it worked before I took it out, whether it was an oldfashioned push in (off) push out (on) or a new fangled digital electronicy switch. But as soon as I took it apart I noticed it wasn't catching in the off position, so i took the switch apart and all that was wrong was a little arm about 10mm X 3mm that was slightly bent, so i straighten it and put the rest together and low and behold it worked.
It'll probably break again, but it'll do until I can get a cheap spare.

Now all I need is a jump start............

Not wanting to open a new thread on hazard lights...

I woke up this morning to find my hazards were flashing, but not in a regular fashion. They would flash for maybe 30 seconds and then pause for 30 seconds (I've never put my hazards on for anything as long as 30 seconds before so I assume this isn't what they're meant to do!!).

Have no idea how long they were going for but they definitely weren't flashing last night. Car has been parked in the same spot since last Sunday. It's on a road but I can't see any sign of it being bumped by another car... there's no alarm on the car either which might casue the lights to flash.

The lights turned off when I pressed the hazard button (I am 100% sure I did not accidentally turn them on when I was last in the car), and the car turned on no prob, with no warning lights showing. It's an 05 in good nick and has never acted unusally before. All the booklet said was that the hazards would come on automatically if the airbags were triggered (which hasn't happened thankfully!).

Has anyone any suggestions on what might have prompted it and if it could signal a more serious fault? I'm really not a car person at all, but I do need it, especially next week!

Thanks. It's an Opel but the same idea might be at work.

It doesn't have an alarm but maybe there's some internal mechanism that shows someone tried to open it or something? I'd be worried if I thought someone had their eye on it!!

Took it for a spin there and nothing seemed amiss. It's still a bit of a mystery!
