Suppose I'll knock 1 out there. All selections I make will be €10 stake unless stated.

    Bate Borisov v Everton 6pm kick-off

    5/1 Paddy Power

The Belarusian Champions qualified for the group stages of the Champions League last season. They were drawn with Zenit, Real Madrid and Juventus. They gained a 2-2 home draw against Juventus, having taking an early 2-0 lead. The drew 0-0 with them in Italy. They also managed a 1-1 draw at Zenit, leading in that match until the final 10 minutes. That was their only points but no disgrace given it was their first appearance in the competition. Their stadium has a capacity of less than 5500, hardly something Everton players will be used to. Pienaar (injury) and Saha (suspension) both miss out. An upset is definitely on the cards.

    Bate 5/1
    Bate HT/FT 10/1

    Ha!

Read the title of the thread and immediately thought of posting up that BATE bet. Might have a bit of the HT/FT too now that you mention it.

I dont think i can call the everton match.

Instead ill recommend a cheeky 4 match accumulator.

    PSV v Cluj
    Celtic v Rapid vienna
    Sheriff Tiraspol v Fenerbache
    Werber Bremen v Athletic Bilbao

tots up as just over 7/1.

Celtic, PSV and Fenerbache are all top of their domestic leagues and havent lost all season.

Rapid vienna and Cluj have been patchy away from home and Sheriff Tirspol are playing in a mickey mouse league.

Im claiming gut feeling for the Werder match though

BURNLEY (home) @ 5/4 (Paddy Power) to beat Birmingham City

Burnley have a 100% home record so far this season with wins over Man United, Everton and Sunderland. Birmingham keep it tight at the back and will be tough to break down but I expect Burnley to win this.

WOLVES (home) @ 23/20 (Paddy Power) to beat Portsmouth

Portsmouth have lost seven games from seven. While they haven't been dreadful, morale will be low and today it's emerged that the player's wages haven't been paid. Wolves haven't set the world alight but have picked up wins against Wigan and Fulham.

WEST HAM (home) @ 5/4 (Bet 365) to beat Fulham

West Ham are Fulham's bogey side. Fulham haven't won any of their ten previous meetings. Last season West Ham beat Fulham home and away and the Cottagers have a European game on Thursday night.

CHELSEA (home) @ 6/5 (Bet 365) to beat Liverpool

This game is going to be tight but I expect Chelsea to edge it with home advantage. While both teams had European games during the week, Liverpool were given the tougher game by Fiorentina

BARNSLEY (home) @ 7/5 (William Hill) to beat Ipswich

Ipswich just cannot buy a win under Roy Keane. They've thrown away two wins in the last few weeks and I don't expect them to take anything at Oakwell. Barnsley are coming off the back of fantastic home wins over Burnley in the Carling Cup and West Brom in the league. Mark Robins (who done a great job at Rotherham) has recently taken over as manager and confidence is high.

    No chance.

Thanks for your fantastic contribution to the thread, clap clap.

No chance? Everton are missing 3 of their top 4 players, Saha, Pienaar & Rodwell, their other being Cahill. They were hardly convincing away to Portsmouth on Saturday lunchtime when they were 6/5, today they are 4/7 against a team who had 3 very good results in the Champions League last year and also against a team who have a winning mentality as they have won the Belarusian Title for the last 3 seasons and find themselves 10 points clear with a game in hand after 20 games this time round. But sure they have no chance right? Everton are the kings of Europe, I forgot.

Definitley putting a small bit behind BATE and am considering backing Basel too (4/1 with Betfair). It looks like Fulham will be taking this game a little more seriously than their last Europa game but Basel are after coming off the back of beating Roma 2-0 in the last round and have won their last 5 games. Wil wait until the teams are announced before I go through with it though.

Benfica at 2.1 also look like a good bet away to AEK Athens. They managed to comfortably beat BATE at home in the last round while Athens got a trashing against Everton. Benfica are on a good streak in the Portugese league while Athens aren't having the best of times.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,242 ✭✭✭In_tuition

Hangeland, Duff, Etuhu are all out. Basel definitely worth a bet, scored 28 goals in their last 9 competetive games and with Hangeland definitely out Fulham could find it hard to keep them at bay. Also beat Roma 2-0 at home, but to be fair Roma are awful, watched them play Juventus a while back and they had no ambition, couldnt get the ball out of their own half and just looked very slow so I'd take the Roma result with a pinch of salt. They reached te 1/4 finals of the Uefa Cup in 05/06 season. They drew 1-1 at Barcelona last season in the Champions League. Worth a small wager at 7/2.

Hmmmmm, I hear BATE are after moving the game to the National Stadium instead of their small local ground.

    Not happy with that decision.

    good and bad thing

more bate fans = more atmosphere but it probably isnt as enclosed in as their home ground

They played their Champions League group matches last year at the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk which is the one you refer to. But in their champions league qualifying matches this year they played at home so in turn I expected that anything outside of the group stages would be played at home. Shameful really

Ah here I didn't mean any offence. I was just shocked at the eagerness of snapping up 10/1 HT/FT for a smallish European club beating a team in the form that Everton are in right now.

There was a bit of value maybe but I just couldn't see a BATE win, I'm sorry. Everton have injuries sure but they are tenatious. And I promise next time (as in the past if you look) I will give a better reasoning than simply 'no chance', it was a bit silly. And sorry for the aftertiming, easy to say I can't see a BATE win after the game! I'll concede they did better than I expected.

Next time I post here will be genuine contribution of a football bet. Sorry.

I think Bury at 5/4 is good value as they have a great away record and are playing a poor Torquay side who have'nt won in their last 6 while Bury have won 3 in a row including 2 away wins.

Was thinking of adding Yeovil in at 16/5 away to Oldham due to their woeful home record but they seem to have regained some momentum even winning at home the other week for 1st time since Valentine's Day but could be worth a small punt

West Ham to beat Fulham is my banker for the weekend. 6/5 (PP) is a good price too. Gonna put it together with Chelsea and Wolves. Pays out nearly 9/1

    Cambuur vs. Eindhoven - draw @ 5.7

Cambuur are flying high in second, whilst Eindhoven are 18th (of 20), so this might be considered a walk in the park for Cambuur, and they are available @ 1.35 on Betfair which seems to back this up.

However, of Cambuurs' 4 games at home this season, 3 have ended level, (all score draws too by the way). W1 D3 L0.

Eindhoven have the exact same record in their away games, played 4, drawn 3 (again, all score draws). Note that these have been their last 3 away matches, losing only the first away game of the season. W0 D3 L1.

It would seem that whilst Cambuur are highly effective on the road (W4 D1 L0), they fail to close out teams at home, and are dropping points here. Eindhoven's home record is woeful (W1 D1 L3), but they seem to be able to grind out the minimum points available on their travels. In the last 4 matches they've lost 3 home games (including one 0-8!) but drew 2-2 away to Helmond Sport in the middle of this, who are in 4th just one point behind Cambuur.

Not overly scientific, but I've stuck a few on it.

FT 3-1, 3rd Cambuur goal coming in stoppage time. Ah well, was worth a punt. :)

    Barrow v Oxford

Oxford are 8 points clear in the Conference and have won 8 out of their last 10 games, 4 of them coming away from home but some of those away points included slender wins over much weaker opposition in the form of Gateshead & Wrexham. Barrow secured an excellent 3-1 home win over Mansfield in midweek and in this corresponding fixture they beat Oxford 3-0, although Oxford were down to 10 men nevertheless 3 goals against 10 men behind the ball is a good result. I am by no means confident of a home win and to be honest I'd kinda swayed towards the draw but given the difficulty that Oxford have had against weaker opposition away from home recently I think it's worth taking a chance on a home victory given the result they had midweek.

    Barrow 4/1 home win

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,242 ✭✭✭In_tuition

    Manchester United v Sunderland

Sunderland's last 3 results at United read 1-0, 1-0 & 0-0, you can see the trend there, Sunderland failed to score. But in their last 6 Premier League games Sunderland have scored 16 goals. In the whole of last season they scored 34. Vidic was terrible in midweek against Wolfsburg, Ferdinand hasn't looked very stable either in recent matches. I think Sunderland will gave United a hell of a game this evening and they are worth a small wager to upset United.

    Sunderland to win 16/1

...and if you're going to invite posters to "have their say" in your thread title; it's probably a little counter-intuitive to ask them not to once they do. Make up your mind.

Calm down a bit please? Your thread is a good idea but your acting as if you own the place.

For me; Man City @ 13/8 or better are a big price to beat Villa away. Granted City aren't the best travellers out there but they do welcome Adebayor back into the side. Villa have been patchy so far this season imo. And to put it in even more simple terms: Man City are just a better team.

Three out of five in the end up. I'm livid about West Ham. They were one-nil up against ten men and at half-time Fulham took off Andy Johnson to put on an extra defender (Baird). I saw bits of the second half - West Ham were shambolic at the back!

    Tuesday night football League 1

    Brighton v Gillingham

    Nicky Forster 1st goalscorer 5/1 (b'sports) €10 win
(Forster has netted 7 times this seasons, 3 of those has been as 1st goalscorer in the match, 3 also as last goalscorer. 4 of those goals have come at home)

    Andrew Crofts 1st goalscrorer 14/1 (b'sports) €5 win
    (Crofts is former Gillingham player)

Gillingham have been winning in 5 matches this season at H/T and have went on to win 4 of those matches and drawing the other but those 4 matches where at home. Brighton are rock bottom of the home league table after 5 matches but Gillingham are also rock bottom in the away league table. In turn my bet is..

    HT/FT Brighton/Gillingham 25/1 €5
    HT/FT Gillinham/Brighton 25/1 €5

    €25 in total bets.
probably get higher odds depending on where you shop.

All the best if anyone else is playing on this match.

    Ireland v Montenegro

    1st Goalscorer

    Noel Hunt 13/2 (p'power)
(might get the nod up front tonight in place of keane - hunt netted 9 times last season for reading, 7 of those coming in the 1st half, 6 of them at home and 5 of them were as 1st goalscorer in the match)

I'l add stephen hunt anytime goalscorer with william hill at 5/1.

He will be out to impress after being dropped against italy with the play offs coming up and win or lose 5/1 for anytime is great value.
