Anyone any idea how much a preschool leader should earn?

Hi I'm a qualified teacher but with the lack of jobs this year I'm considering taking a pre-school leader job. I've worked as a preschool teacher before but it was in a school so I was paid teaching wages.

This preschool is within the grounds of a school but seems to operate seperately, because when I went for the interview they asked me how much I would expect to be paid. The question threw me a bit. I was told the role would involve the management of staff as well as the usual leader/teacher duties.

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea of what the hourly rate or salary usually is or should be for this job. Thanks.

    hi,
there are no fixed rates as such or annual increments - wages are usually at the discretion of owner or childcare committee. Usually would be about 15 euro p.h. for 4 hour work. Wage does not reflect job responsibilities: managing staff, curriculum planning, accounts, banking and everything else that is expected in normal working day. Many hours spent outside working hours which are unseen and unpaid. Preschools often close during school closures and staff would normally have to sign on for this period. You would normally get 8 percent of hours work as annual leave to be taken during summer holidays. No wonder theres still jobs going in this area?
