Redundancy Question

    Hi all,

    Just a quick question, if anyone has advice I'd appreciate it and thanks in advance.

    I was let go at the end of April after 99 week's work with the same company, received my P45 as well as holiday pay. However, I returned to the company for a few day's (approx 6days) here and there up untill the 10th Aug, received a cheque payable to me and not made out to cash for those intermittent days.

    My question is, does that extend my termination date of employment from the end of April to the 10th August, and in turn extend my week's of employment from 99 to 113 week's?

    I doubt it as your position ended with your P45. The subsequent days would be argued as having been provided on a casual consultancy basis.

    Don't know if it would matter but did they pay tax on your behalf?

    Thank you for your reply Sleepy. I'm not sure whether I paid tax/PRSI/PAYE on the monies I received but it did seem to be pro-rata based on my Net salary when I was officially employed by them.

    Unfortunately no - once you receive a P45 your period of employment is officially concluded.
