The UCC Rover Scout Club

Myself and Colin Keane just had a meeting with the head of UCC Clubs. We have been given a constitution and committee member sheet so a meeting is going to be held within the next week, details will be posted here and in the student centre. Anyone who wishes to attend this should make it pretty clear to myself or Colin via this or through phone. PM me if you need details.

There will be a meeting to draw up a provisional program for the college year. Then we will hold an AGM and elect the committee, at this point we will bring it to the clubs executive and it will be processed, if it is seen as a viable club we will be granted provisional status and be granted permission to function as a club.

It is important that as many people as possible show up to show the clubs exec how important this is, in setting up the first proper Rovers Club in Ireland. She feels strongly that it is possible and that if we are confident enough that we will be able to do this. It will relatively cost UCC nothing to allow us to function so we are fairly confident this will work.

We will be as active as any other club and obviously the national rover events will be part of the program as well as events that will be begin asap i.e. November, December.

New blood is also needed i think so if there are people here which i know there is who are in UCC who know anybody interested, drag them along and see what happens, the main aim i think is to get this up and running and at the same time help the old PR side.

Any help will be appreciated and the more people we get the better, hopefully people will see this soon enough and start discussing...and to all the people who believe Rovers in college wont work, just have a bit of faith and try be positive.

Ok so Rover Scouts is aimed at people between the age of 18 and 21...

Generally college students although not the case some of the time for those who work instead.

We are our own section of Scouting Ireland, and it is aimed at doing more adventurous activities, everything goes from potholing, skiing, whatever you want to do as a rover scout you can try and achieve.

Its amazing for meeting new people, men and women, of your own age and having the craic...

Its a completely new section never before seen in Scouting Ireland, its been properly launched in April 2010 but UCC will be the first college in Ireland to have a Rover Scout group

Im glad theres such a response guys i really hope to see ye there on Monday, its going to be amazing and we will get out as much as we put in, we can have our own hoodies, neckos whatever you wish were gonna try show ucc that this club is viable and completely ready for action!

The EGM is on Monday...the 19th, in the student centre cafe...a room was unavailable so it will have to be there! All are welcome!

Vice's to these positions i'd assume and generally just setting out everything for the year!!

Committee was elected, constitution was finalised, our first official meetinig will be

6pm, 28th of October in the student centre, so tell everyone and come along, we will discuss a programme that suits everyone and which is amazing!
